This instructional step-by-step guide will teach you how to perform the coveted "Around the World" hacky sack trick. The around the world is a universally known trick, most seen and attempted with a soccer ball. With a hacky sack you will have an easier time with control and rotation, compared to a soccer ball. For more advanced techniques and combinations, check out the advanced only section below.
Difficulty of Trick: Novice/Intermediate
Stall the sack on either foot by placing it on your foot by hand or by tossing it and stalling it near the toe of your foot.
Keep your knees slightly bent to help with your balance.
Have your active foot raised a few inches off the ground with your toe pointing upwards.
Pop the sack up straight up about a foot in the air (it's easier when the sack is a little closer to you).
While the sack is in the air, swing your leg all the way around the sack in a complete circular motion. (clockwise motion may be easier for beginners.)
You can complete the trick by either stalling it on your foot after the rotation, or you can just kick it straight up back to yourself or to another player.
Once you can consistently perform an around the world, try this advanced finish by swinging your foot behind your back after completing the around the world rotation.
Note: In order for this trick to work, right-footed players must rotate their foot clockwise while left-footed players rotate them counter-clockwise.
With enough practice, you should be able to perform an Around the World with proper technique. Once you are comfortable with it, try different variations and combinations with other tricks to improve your game and develop your own style.
